Brief Description

Arts and Visually Impaired Audiences is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation whose mission is focused on providing access to the arts for blind and visually impaired residents of Washington State. Part of AVIA's mission is to generate program in which blind and visually impaired people get opportunities to learn and exercise their creativity.

Services Offered

  • Employment/Job Training
    • Provide an audio production workshop for blind and visually impaired people of ages above sixteen.

  • Low Vision Services
    • Arts and Visually Impaired Audiences runs the Audio Description Service, which converts visual information into speech for live performances. AVIA provides Audio Description to ACT Theatre, the Paramount, and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. AVIA also provides access to museums through audio guides and docent training.
