Brief Description

The PASS Project is a collaborative effort sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education, Indiana State University,and numerous state partners who provide services for students who are blind/low vision, deaf/hard of hearing and deafblind.

Services Offered

  • Personnel Preparation
    • The Visual Impairment Licensure Program at Indiana State University is designed to prepare Indiana teachers to work with students who are blind or have low vision. The Program is made possible by the PASS grant which is funded by the Indiana Department of Education through the Blumberg Center at Indiana State University. This graduate level program consists of 16 credit hours of course work, each offered primarily through distance education. Cohorts begin each spring and students enroll in one course per semester including summers.

  • Distance Education
    • Offers a distance education distance education program in visual impairments to prepare Indiana teachers to work with students who are blind or have low vision.

  • Professional Training
    • We provide an annual Indiana Vision Conference for professionals who work with students who are blind or have low vision. The conference covers topics to improve instructional quality, promote academic achievement, and improve the educational outcomes for students who are blind, low vision, or Deaf-Blind.
