Brief Description

Guide Dogs of America is dedicated to its mission to provide guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually impaired men and women from the United States and Canada so that they may continue to pursue their goals with increased mobility and independence.

Services Offered

• Dog Guide Training
• Provides dog guide mobility training. In-home training offered to selected individuals.


• Assessment
• Assesses clients to determine suitability for acceptance.


• Information and Referral
• Refers blind individuals and their families to resources via phone or e-mail. Offers tours, speakers bureau, presentations/demonstrations. Participates at conventions and events of organizations/agencies of and for the blind.


• Professional Training
• Offers 3-year apprentice program for dog guide instructors.
