Transcript for Aaron’s Graduation

NARRATOR: APH CareerConnect, a program of the American Foundation for the Blind presents: Aaron’s Adventures in Employment. This final episode is “Aaron’s Graduation.” NARRATOR: It’s the night before graduation. Aaron sits in his bedroom, thinking about how his life will change, as he plays his guitar. AARON: I can’t believe high school is over! What’s next? I don’t even know if I want to work in health care anymore, I really don’t know what I want to do! (PLAYS GUITAR) I could be a rock star—travel the world, famous… NARRATOR: (WHISPER) Aaron thinks about graduation and plays his guitar as he drifts to sleep. (MUSIC UNDER) NARRATOR: (WHISPER) He begins to dream that he is the lead singer and guitarist in his own music video. His band are familiar friends—the Resume Genie on bass guitar dressed in a turbin, harem pants, and a colorful vest; Commander I.B. Friendly on drums dressed in camouflage; and Flair for Success on keyboards dressed in sunglasses, a cape that sparkles, and his gold championship belt. All members of the band play instruments and dance wildly throughout the song. AARON SINGS: In a moment, everything changes your friends, your home, your life all rearranges Now there is college, soon a career I don’t know which way to go But I know my moment is here. Opportunity is knocking, it’s time to answer the door I am dressed to impress, tell the world I’m ready for more Even if the future isn’t clear, my past has brought me here And the things I’ve learned will take away the fear. ALL SING: Then I’ll be Rockin’ Rockin’ down the road of life Rockin’ Rockin’ till I get it right No whining or complaining Only winning and achieving This is my life I’ll work it out. (Verse 2) AARON SINGS: On this journey, everything matters The things I say on my resume build a step on the ladder I’ll work well with others, our future is tied Respect to give, respect to live Adjust my attitude for the ride. Then I’ll be ALL: Rockin’ Rockin’ down the road of life Rockin’ Rockin’ till I get it right No whining or complaining Only winning and achieving This is my life I’ll work it out. ALL: work it out, work it out, work it out, work it out (ALARM CLOCK RINGS) AARON: Where am I? Back in my room? It’s graduation day. Wow! What an awesome dream! I guess I don’t have to know what’s going to happen. My career is a journey I’ll be on for my entire life. I’ll do my best and take things one step at a time. And, I think my first step will be—to graduate! (THEME MUSIC UNDER.) NARRATOR: Aaron’s employment adventures have just begun—but he’s learned a lot from school and from his first job.
