- Advises and consults with manufacturers of sunglasses and lighting products in order to ensure safety and consideration of the special needs of patients with retinal dystrophies. Works with organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Optometric Association to help raise awareness at the government level and in both the professional and lay communities.

- Hosts online support groups for low vision seniors and discussion groups about macular degeneration and related diseases on its website.
The International Low Vision Support Group (ILVSG) is a global network of support groups organized by Macular Degeneration Support with over 180 affiliates. MD Support maintains a directory of these groups and provides newsletters, handouts, and audio-visual presentations to be used by these affiliates. They also have a TeleSupport program for seniors who are homebound and have no access to the internet. The mission of these groups is to provide seniors support, information and resources to live with low vision.
