We are excited to announce the release of the first video in a series from the American Printing House for the Blind’s ConnectCenter, congratulating the graduating class of 2020! This video series is packed with successful people who are blind or low vision from various professions.
During my seven years working with and managing CareerConnect, I had the great opportunity to network with many professionals who are blind or low vision. I have always looked for inspiration, guidance, and advice from these role models and mentors. I first read Eirk Weihenmayer’s book, Touch the Top of the Sky, about his ascent to the top of Mt. Everest, in graduate school.
Each video offers a different perspective. The ConnectCenter will be releasing two videos per week over the next 3 weeks. In the first video, you will find an adventurer / public speaker, an actor and director, an accessibility specialist, and a composer and producer. Other videos will include a Harvard-educated lawyer who is deafblind; a physical accessibility specialist and singer; a financial analyst and Paralympian; a personal trainer and Paralympian; a celebrity chef and restauranteur; a NASA engineer and patent attorney; a corporate vice-president; a computer scientist; and 2 consumer group leaders and advocates who impact our rights nationally and internationally.
So get ready to learn about some great people who happen to be blind and how they are making an impact in the world. Congratulations to the Class of 2020. We hope to see you in a similar series in the future. Take and use their advice, and then make sure to give back to the next generation.
